Nuevo clip del live-action de Look Back muestra a Kyōmoto y Fujino creando manga

Film opens in Japan on September 11

The official website for the live-action film of Tatsuki Fujimoto’s "Look Back" one-shot manga presented a new clip on Friday, showing Kyōmoto and Fujino collaborating on creating a manga together. The clip, which highlights their artistic partnership, has fans excited for the film’s Japanese release on September 11.

The Cannes International Film Festival describes the film as a tender coming-of-age story following two girls who bond over their shared passion for manga. Aju Makita plays Kyōmoto, while Natsuki Deguchi portrays Fujino, the shy but talented artist. Directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda, the film also features music by Yūta Bandō and includes special guest roles by Kenshi Yonezu and Tōko Miura.

Look Back has already made an impact in Japan with its anime adaptation, which opened in June 2024 and ranked #2 in ticket sales during its opening weekend. The live-action version will be released in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., and Ireland in 2026 by GKIDS. Meanwhile, fans can watch the anime film on platforms like TikTok with nostalgic edits of key scenes featuring Kyōmoto and Fujino.

The film is set to premiere at the London Film Festival in October, adding to its growing anticipation. With its heartfelt storytelling and exploration of artistic collaboration, Look Back promises to be a must-see for fans of both manga and cinema.
